NS Election 2021: A Tool Kit for Voters

I'M VOTING FOR PUBLIC HEALTHCARE (3).png

We’ve put together a tool kit to help voters who are concerned about public health care. The tool kit includes:

  • Brief rundowns of the key issues, including links to more detailed resources (coming soon)

  • “Door knock questions” to ask candidates and parties (including a guide to how to evaluate their answers)

  • Images to use on social media to show your support for public health care

  • Window signs for you to print at home and put in your window to tell neighbours and candidates that you’re voting for public health care

The Nova Scotia Health Coalition is non-partisan. We don’t support any political party and we won’t tell you how to vote, but we do want to provide you with tools to help you evaluate campaign promises, encourage others to make healthcare a voting issue, and to demand better of politicians of all stripes.

Questions to Ask Candidates

When candidates or volunteers come to your door or call your phone its easy to either be caught off guard and not know what to say to them or to just want it to be over. We understand.

That’s why we have put together three short questions to ask people looking for your vote. We encourage you to ask them word for word, paraphrase them or use them as inspiration for your own questions.

We’ve also included a guide to what to look for in good (and bad!) answers.

These can also be used as guide when attending candidate forums online or in person. If you’re involved in party politics, you may want to use these questions to ask the party or candidate where they stand on these issues.

Click here to download the questions as a printable PDF.

Social media profile pictures

Right click (or tap and hold on your smartphone) and select download image to save it to your phone on computer. Then set it as your Facebook, Twitter or Instagram profile picture.

Printable window signs

Print off a window sign at home and put it in a street facing window of your home or on your apartment door!

When candidates or party volunteers come to your door ask them if they saw the sign and use it to start talking to them about the need to protect, strengthen and expand public healthcare.

The files are high quality PDFs formatted for standard printer paper (8.5”x11”). If you don’t have access to a printer at home or at your work your local library should be able to print it for you at a low cost.
