Joint Letter on Global Vaccine Access

The Nova Scotia Health Coalition joined over 40 organizations from across the country in signing a letter calling on Canada to support a temporary patent waiver to allow for the rapid global production of COVID-19 vaccines. Thus far Canada has been one of the few countries at the World Trade Organization to refuse to commit to supporting such a waiver and have blocked its consensus adoption.

The recent discovery of a new, even more deadly strain of the SARS-COV-2 virus has demonstrated how no one is safe from deadly diseases until everyone is safe from them. Vaccine apartheid puts people at risk not only the countries where vaccine rates are low, but also endangers everyone, regardless of where they live.
