Take action today!

Send a letter to the Minister of Health and Opposition Health Critics and demand action against privatization.

In 2002, the provincial government allowed a private, for-profit MRI clinic to open in Halifax. This clinic is suspected to be violating the Canada Health Act by selling advanced access to insured services. Then in 2007, the government allowed a private, for-profit surgical clinic to open in Dartmouth.

Finally, in the last year, the provincial government gave a contract to a private, for-profit company, McKesson Canada, to operate the telecare services in Nova Scotia. This contract is worth an estimated $19.5 million over 3 years and is expected to handle 100,000 calls per year. This works out to about $650 per call!

Now is a great time to voice our opposition to for-profit health care. The Health Network is aiming to have as many letters as possible sent to the Minister of Health.

Fill out your contact information below and either send the pre-written letter or write your own letter to the Minister. Using the form below your letter will be sent to:

Maureen MacDonald, Minister of Health
Diana Whalen, MLA for Halifax Clayton Park and Liberal Health Critic
Chris d'Entremont, MLA for Argyle and Progressive Conservative Health Critic

Your letter will also be copied to the Health Network so we can keep track of the number of letters that are sent.
